Sportsmanship, Love and Determination

A Special Night of Hoops
Posted on 01/26/2022
The Lady Vikings from North High School took on the Buchtel Griffins last night at home. As usual, North played hard for all four quarters, never giving up, improving every minute they are on the court and representing North well and with sportsmanship.

Last night, the Vikings and Griffins united to provide one very special athlete with an unforgettable night. Late in the fourth quarter, Aayuasha Subba, with her mom in attendance cheering her on, entered into her first varsity contest. Somehow, one of the Buchtel girls "lost" control of the ball, and Aayusha was able to come up with the turnover. She drove the length of the floor and was able to get a couple of shots off before sinking one for her first-ever score! Both the Vikings and the Griffins celebrated with Aayusha as fans from both teams cheered. Aayusha did manage to wave to her fans from the floor before coming up with ANOTHER Griffin turnover, driving the length of the floor and scoring AGAIN right before time ran out.

Akron Public Schools congratulates both teams and their coaches for showing fairness and generosity on and off the court.
